I'm going to guess that you know your ideal clients are on LinkedIn. You hear them talking about content they're seeing there, and know they go to the platform to read others' posts, prepare for meetings, and stay up-to-date on trends.
However, even though you’re active on the platform and spending time there (likely by reading posts, engaging with posts, writing your own, and/or sending messages), you’re feeling frustrated because you're not reaching the leads you need to grow your business.
In this article, I'm going to share:
How I learned about using LinkedIn for lead generation
Why I created my signature program, Leads on LinkedIn
What I included in the program to get consultants results
How you might be overcomplicating LinkedIn, and what to do instead
The next steps to turn LinkedIn into a repeatable lead generation system for you
I've been using LinkedIn for lead generation for more than a decade.
I first started using LinkedIn seriously back in 2014, when I founded a nonprofit called SODA: Student Organ Donation Advocates in memory of my sister, Laura, who was an organ donor.
Through sending thousands of LinkedIn messages and emails and crafting hundreds of attention-grabbing posts, I figured out how to get responses and build awareness for our work. My work on LinkedIn, on behalf of SODA, resulted in:
Establishing partnerships with nearly every national organ donation organization
Expanding to 115 and counting chapters nationwide
Raising nearly $1.5 million, more than half of which I've been directly involved in
I transitioned what I learned through that experience to start my own consulting business. I grew my own business quickly, generating more than 300 leads and sending 100 invoices in my first six months, securing speaking invitations, and receiving daily inquiries and email sign-ups.
To date, I’ve helped more than 100 consultants and service providers transform their LinkedIn presence into a valuable asset for their business. Let me tell you about the program I've designed where I do that.
I created the Leads on LinkedIn program to make LinkedIn sustainable and effective for consultants.
In working with other consultants, I noticed many were using LinkedIn inconsistently and without a plan. They often felt frustrated, believing LinkedIn success meant more followers and likes when, in reality, it’s about generating leads. Without a clear strategy, they wasted hours without seeing results.
Furthermore, finding marketing advice feels like the Wild West. Should you invest in your website, your blog, Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, webinars, an email list, or some other new platform or tool? It's hard to know where to focus when so many options exist.
I created Leads on LinkedIn to offer business owners ongoing, high-quality LinkedIn and marketing advice so they can spend less time marketing their business and bring in the leads they need. By working together, you will spend less time on LinkedIn while seeing growth in your client pipeline.
I've included relevant milestones and high-value features in Leads on LinkedIn to help you get results.
The Leads on LinkedIn program is a two-month coaching program designed for consultants who know their ideal clients are on LinkedIn but don’t yet have a reliable way to turn LinkedIn activity into leads. It comes right after you've optimized your LinkedIn profile.
The program is structured around three core milestones, so you’ll know exactly what to focus on as you navigate the program. You can submit the milestones in any order you choose.
Here are the milestones I include in the program:
Send 30 DMs: build connections through authentic, non-salesy messages that foster real relationships.
Pre-schedule a month of posts: draft eight engaging posts that resonate with your audience’s needs and goals.
Create a lead list: know exactly who's in your pipeline and when to follow up with them
I've also added features to the program so you get the right support at every turn. Here's what's included in the program:
Actionable curriculum: learn step by step how to identify leads, craft effective posts, and manage your direct message conversations
Time-saving templates: instead of staring at a blank screen, start with inspiration for every direct message and post you write.
Direct message feedback: get feedback on the messages you are sending on LinkedIn to improve your response rates and book calls
Post critiques: receive feedback on the posts you write to ensure your messaging is clear so you build trust with your ideal clients and referral partners.
Ongoing email access: get personalized guidance any time a question arises so you keep making progress.
Weekly check-ins: get friendly check-ins every week and submit your "weekly progress report" for ongoing accountability
Thanks to the robust curriculum and support I provide, you will:
Build a targeted list of high-quality leads
Refine and share your messaging through LinkedIn posts
Connect with potential clients through direct messages
Capture your unique LinkedIn strategy on a cheat sheet
And as a result of these actions, you will also:
Gain confidence in using LinkedIn as a lead-generation tool
Attract high-quality leads to grow your business
Develop the skill of posting and direct messaging
Refine your voice so you feel more comfortable sharing your expertise and opinions
That being said, when you learn more about LinkedIn and how I teach it, you might have concerns about how it will work. That's likely because you're following overly complex strategies. Let's talk about some of those.
Many consultants overcomplicate lead generation on LinkedIn, so let's set the record straight.
Here are a few of the myths that consultants who are leaning into LinkedIn feel. For each of these myths, I will share a resource that will help you think about it differently.
You might think you need to post 5x a week on LinkedIn. In fact, it’s better to post quality content that resonates with your audience instead of a high quantity of content.
(Read why posting better content less frequently is the best option here.)
You might think you need to leverage complex LinkedIn strategies like newsletters and LinkedIn Lives. These strategies aren’t necessary for generating leads, and keep consultants from mastering the basics. I encourage my clients to focus on straightforward, high-ROI activities.
(Read more about what a LinkedIn strategy is and why you need one here.)
You might think you need to spend an hour a day on LinkedIn; however, results on the platform come from consistency and strategy, not time spent. My program teaches you to focus on the most effective actions without draining hours each day.

Here's a practical, sustainable approach to LinkedIn.
The last thing I want to leave you with is an invitation to join my program, and the steps needed to develop a practical, repeatable LinkedIn system that gets you results (without burning you out!).
Step 1: When I start working with a consultant, we always start with a LinkedIn Profile Optimization so that you clearly explain your credibility, who you serve, how you serve them, and what action the profile viewer should take.
This process takes under a month from start to finish, and provides you a profile that captures the attention of your ideal clients and gets them to take action.
Step 2: Once your profile is optimized, we then create your LinkedIn strategy so you can get visible to the right audience and attract more interest in your offerings through my coaching program, which I've described in detail in this blog post.
This program takes two months. We focus on two main skills - LinkedIn posting and direct messaging. These skills bring the right clients into your orbit so you can consistently grow your business without relying on time-consuming strategies like video and expensive strategies like ads.
Within just a month, you'll have identified and contacted 30 prospects for your business. You'll have the skills and systems to do it again whenever you want an influx of leads. And, this rinse-and-repeat process gets more effective every time you do it!.
